ChatGPT Ads management, from someone already running them.
ChatGPT now shows ads to people in the UK. We set up, run and measure ChatGPT Ads alongside your Google Ads, led by someone with 15 years in paid search who is running live campaigns now, and we tell you straight whether it is worth your money yet.
What's included
Everything a fair test needs.
A ChatGPT campaign is only worth running if you can tell whether it worked. We set it up so you can, and we keep it in your name.
Eligibility check
Before you spend anything, we check your business, your offer and your landing pages against OpenAI's ad policies. Some categories cannot advertise at all, and rules for regulated sectors such as finance, health and legal are stricter and still changing outside the US.
An account you own
Your Ads Manager account is set up in your business's name and billed to your own card. The ad spend never passes through us, and you keep the account and the data.
Context hints, not keywords
ChatGPT ads are matched to the topic of a conversation rather than a keyword list. We write the context hints that describe the conversations your customers are having, and split campaigns so we can see which ones pay.
Ads and landing pages
Each ad is a short card: a headline, a line of copy, an image and a link. We write and test them, and make sure the page behind them is built to turn a curious click into an enquiry. This is where our website work comes in. Not sure your pages are ready? Start with a free website review.
Tracking that holds up
OpenAI's pixel and Conversions API where available, connected to GA4 and to your CRM where you have one, so enquiries from ChatGPT are counted the same way as every other channel.
Budget control and plain reporting
Budgets and bids set at what you are comfortable testing, checked often while the platform is new, and reported against enquiries rather than impressions.
Why now
Early, and still finding its feet.
ChatGPT ads went live in the UK in June 2026, and OpenAI's self-serve Ads Manager has since opened to UK businesses. Click costs on the live campaigns Nathan is running are low for now. That is the early-adopter window, and it is likely to narrow as more businesses arrive.
We would be wary of anyone promising more than that. Reporting on the platform is still thin, new features tend to reach the US first, and costs are likely to rise as competition does. The case for testing now is simpler: you find out what works while it is cheaper to learn, and you are not starting from scratch when your competitors turn up.
How it works
Check, test, decide.
Check the fit
A discovery call, then a look at your offer, your landing pages, your tracking and any Google Ads you already run. If ChatGPT Ads is not right for you yet, we will say so.
Build & launch a test
Account, tracking, context hints, ads and landing pages, launched on a budget agreed with you up front. We watch it closely in the first weeks.
Read it & decide
We report what the test produced in enquiries and cost, next to your other channels. Then you decide whether to scale it, change it or stop.
Alongside Google Ads
A different moment in the same decision.
ChatGPT Ads do not replace search. They reach people at a different point, and they work best managed together, so you can compare the cost of an enquiry across both.
Google Ads: they search for you
Someone types what they want, your ad appears in the results and you pay for the click. Intent is high and the reporting is mature. For most businesses it should stay the main paid channel, which is why we run it properly first.
ChatGPT Ads: they are working it out
Someone is talking a question or a decision through. When your offer is relevant to that conversation, your ad can appear below the answer as a card labelled sponsored, kept separate from the answer itself. It suits purchases people research before they buy.
Straight answers
Who it suits, and who should wait.
A new channel is not right for every business. Here is how we decide, before anyone spends a pound.
Worth testing if
You sell a service or a considered purchase that people research before buying. You have a clear reason for customers to choose you. Your tracking already works. And your paid media budget is large enough that a test alongside it is worth our fee, not just OpenAI's £15 a day minimum. You can run it for a month or two without needing it to pay back in the first week.
Worth waiting if
Your Google Ads account is not yet doing its job, because fixing that usually pays back sooner. Every pound has to show a return on the last click. Your business is in a category OpenAI restricts. Or your budget is small enough that a management fee would outweigh the spend.

Questions
Good to know.
How much do ChatGPT ads cost in the UK?
There are three parts: the ad spend, a one-off set-up and our monthly management. On the ad side, at the time of writing, OpenAI sets a minimum daily budget of £15 for accounts billed in pounds. It has not published UK bid guidance; in its US Ads Manager it has suggested starting bids of around $3 to $5 a click. £15 a day is OpenAI's floor, not a managed budget: a managed test needs enough spend for our fee to make sense, and we will talk through the right figure on the call. Setting up the account, tracking and first ads is a one-off cost, quoted after the discovery call (an audit of an existing account starts from £750), so you have the figure before anything starts. Our management is part of our paid media fee, from £1,500 a month, agreed up front and separate from the spend, which stays in your own account on your own card. If we already run your Google Ads, a ChatGPT test is quoted as an addition to that fee, not a second retainer.
Can my business advertise on ChatGPT yet?
Yes, if it is eligible. ChatGPT ads have been live in the UK since June 2026, and UK businesses can buy them through OpenAI's self-serve Ads Manager. The business being billed has to be based in a country where self-serve is available, which a UK limited company is. Ads are shown to logged-in adults on the Free and Go plans; paid plans such as Plus and Pro are ad-free. Some categories cannot advertise at all, and rules for regulated sectors such as finance, health and legal are stricter and still changing outside the US, so we check eligibility first.
How do I advertise on ChatGPT?
Through OpenAI's self-serve Ads Manager, which is open to UK businesses. You create an account in your business's name, add a payment card, install OpenAI's pixel where it's available, then build a campaign with a daily budget, bids, context hints and ad cards. We do all of that for you, in an account you own.
How are ChatGPT ads different from Google Ads?
Google Ads match your ad to the words someone searches. ChatGPT ads are matched to the topic of a conversation, using context hints rather than a keyword list, and appear as a sponsored card below the answer. The ad is shorter, the targeting is broader and the reporting is less mature than Google's. For most businesses, Google Ads should stay the main channel, with ChatGPT tested alongside it.
Will ChatGPT ads work for my business?
Nobody can promise that yet. They suit services and considered purchases that people research before buying, and businesses with a clear reason to be chosen. If your Google Ads account is not working well yet, or you need every click to pay back straight away, fix that or wait. We will give you an honest view on the discovery call.
How do you measure results?
Where available, OpenAI's pixel and Conversions API report conversions back to the platform. We also connect ChatGPT traffic to GA4 and, where you have one, your CRM, so enquiries are counted the same way as every other channel. Reporting inside the platform is still incomplete, so we also watch for knock-on effects, such as more people searching for your business by name.
Do ads change what ChatGPT recommends?
Not according to OpenAI. OpenAI says ads do not influence ChatGPT's answers, ads are labelled as sponsored and kept separate from the answer, and conversations are kept private from advertisers. Being mentioned in the answers themselves is a separate job, done through your website and content rather than through ads.
How long before we know if it is working?
Once the ads are approved, impressions and clicks usually start to come through within days. For a fair read on enquiries and cost, allow around two months, and longer if you sell something people take time to decide on.
Who runs the campaigns?
Nathan McDonald, who founded Smarter Sites and has spent 15 years running paid search and paid media. He is running live ChatGPT ad campaigns now, so your account is set up by someone learning from current campaigns, not from a press release.
